Stunning. Also Val's Turquoise is magic in a soda kiln. It's in Britt's Book. If you fire to Cone 10, try Hamada Rust. It's 🔥🔥🔥. Great results. Love the flashing.

Some great results! My soda firings are frequently 1/4 disappointing, 1/2 ok, 1/8 pretty good, 1/8 ❤. It’s a struggle sometimes. It’s not ceramics the easy way, that’s for sure.

in what temperature you melt it?

Jon--- I use mason stains (MS) for flowers and leaves. I fight with all the greens. Often my beautiful mint green becomes ugly brown once clear glaze is applied. I've tried Amaco clear, zinc free and finally matte clear to maintain the green color. No luck. I mix my MS with b-mix to the desired color value and fire at cone 5. I've checked all of kilns and they're fine. Any guesses or suggestions?

Jon, I have seen a potter just set the plate and bat together aside and as the plate dries, it releases naturally from the bat. Do you recommend this? Love your videos!

If you want to get lucky you have to take chances, and soda firing is a way of taking a lot of chances!

I’m so excited to be getting my kiln wired .. or should I say she she’d wired for the kiln .. Do you pre bake in oven ?

I saw you put your perp holes in .. I didn’t get any with mine .. Where can I get some ? Are they necessary for firing

So I just bought a kiln .. no shelves and there is a guy who has 2 shelves 15, and 13 .. My kiln interior is 17 .. Will the shelves work ?

What’s a ballpark price you’d have in building a kiln like this? Assuming you already have the old electric kiln to convert.
